Default Farting on Protein

Is it just me, or is excessive farting a common occurance while on a high protein diet? I have notice my wind production has increased hugely!
Also noticing that my weight is creeping up at a fairly steady rate now due to the advice of the board members, so I am well chuffed. Thanks for the advice In the beginning, I was losing weight going to the gym. Now, I am actually adding good mass with the help of my diet. The big thing was the Protein shakes. I changed from one that had 90 cals & 0 carbs, to one that has 400 cals and 50 carbs. Its working a treat and the high protein and carbs in the rest of my diet are doing the job. The shakes packaging recommends 1-2 shakes day. I'm consuming 4 instead, and its working. Pleased with the results so far, and the farting can be a source of amusement for the time being Its murder on the treadmil sometimes tho.... ops:

cheers

simon

Hi guys a belated welcome to the board, to simon i'm positive someone else on the site had this problem and in one of the posts, someone else had a solution its on one of the posts somewhere, i'll try and find it as a supplement from holland and barrett helped the gas problem, as soon as i find it i'll let you know.

I take it you are mixing your shakes with milk?? IF not you may be useing to maany shakes , although protein does cause alot of excess gas when it is broken down in the stomach

Dave - that would be great thanks. You live in Glasgow aswell? What gym do you go to?

Dan - I do mix my protein powder with s.s. milk. I prefer it to the fruity flavoured powders you that you mix with water. They taste nice too, but I prefer the amount of cals/carbs/protein I get in my milkshakes! Taste great too

I'd mix your PRISIONER OF WAR shake with water to allow for quicker absorbtion, all other shakes I use milk!

Hey Simon, how are you mate, i am in livingston just up the m8, and i was using a local council gym with all the trimmings up until recently, i have unearthed a gem in the form of one of the local high schools who are offering me a great deal, so it pays to shop around, as for the gas ting then I cannot disagree with steve we are one of if not the stinkiest, stankiest mungers on the planet, but i have been rummaging around the site and i did find a post about charcoal tabs from H&B, pretty cheap, and they do work but i am still trying to find the other post, regarding the oter supplement as soon as i find it i'll let you know mate.

I usually try and mix my shakes half milk and half water - Usually find this works quite well and doesn't taste too bad either!
