I don't think its been confirmed yet, I know one of our Extreme athletes, Colin Robinson, is on the bill and he's in full training mode now and was commenting on the fact he wouldn't be getting any Xmas pudding this year!

What a night, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The BJ Benn fight was great, Penn was clinical in dispensing Joe Stevenson by using elbows to open up a huge gash in Stevensons forehead, I thought it would be stopped but they managed to stem the bleeding somewhat allowing Sevenson to go on until Penn choked him into tapping out.

I thought Gabriel Gonzaga would have been too powerfull for Fabricio Werdum and after the way he disposed of Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic I had expected more from Gonzage but his fitness seemed to be lacking and he was unable to defend himself in the second round after dropping Werdum 3 times in the first with thigh kicks. Werdum came out in the second and caught Gonzaga with a few knees to the head which he seemed never to recover from.

The Davis/Liaudin fight was entertaining if somewhat brief with Davis landing a good knockout.

Lee/Sakara was a non event, Lee looked fat, untrained and as if he should not have set foot in the octagon, when the fight started Lee looked as if he was so far out his depth he may as well have been in there with Jaws. Sakara won easily in the first.

The battle of England between Paul Taylor and Paul Kelly was entertaining and well contested, Kelly went to work on Taylors head with elbows when they were on the ground and opened up a sickening gash which the UFC cut man managed to stop so Taylor could continue but the writing was on the wall, Kelly's game plan and strength were too much for Taylor.

The Colin Robinson vs. Hardonk was the fight I personally had most interest in due to sponsoring Colin but I was gutted when Colin took a hefty thigh kick which was followed by a shot to the chin, Colin hit the canvas and staggered to get to his feet so the ref stopped it. Colin protested but once a decision is made its adhered to.

The other fights we ok too, it was a good night and I can't wait to the next one, I'd like to thank Rob Hewitt of Fighters Only magazine (Fighters Only Magazine - The UK's Greatest MMA Magazine - Home - Welcome) for the tickets.

just out of interest...what exactly happened to robinson ? i couldnt make out if he had gone down from a jab or the leg kick....looked to me like a combination of both, like he got caught with a flush jab fractionally after being caught with a good kick...his leg seemed to give out from the kick...but certainly looked like a premature stoppage, that said i think the ref did save him from a battering which after all...is his job !
Penn looked fantastic and can probably hold the lw belt for as long as he wants....didnt think the atmosphere was anything like london or manchester.

I wasn't at Manchester or London but I don't think the atmosphere was great at Newcastle, I'd expected more in all honesty.

I think the leg kick hurt Colin and the following punch was enough to send him to the canvas. He stumbled as he got up and the ref jumped in, he probably was stunned a bit but I don't think the stoppage was justified when it happened.

Penn was wicked, how do think he'll do against Sherk once he's allowed to fight again?

Like i say,i think Penn can hold that title for as long as he wants....he is not the greatest trainer, the only fights he ever completed a full training camp for was the last one and the matt hughes fight at welterweight !...too busy laying on beaches apparently...i think he will beat sean sherk by submission but he will need to be 100 % condition wise as sherk is a cardio machine, but penn has heavy hands, unbelievable flexibility and a top notch ground game....after that Penn will probably need to move up to welterweight again to get the big fights.

i reckon Penn in his current condition will win sherk by submission. Was 1 crazy show, knockouts in the 1st round everywhere.

as far as heavy weight fights go, ive not been too impressed recently. ive been more entertained with the lightweights. those guys go at it like crazed maniacs. so fast and nimble.
