| Under Construction Join Date: Apr 2006 Posts: 18 Rep Power: ![]() | Never too late to start. If it's Ninjutsu you're after look for a Bujinkan Budo Tai Jitsu class as this covers Ninjutsu. This style is well suited to someone older as it doesn't require super fitness or strength to do learn. Certain martial arts you may be beyond you're peak for competing in at top level, such as Judo, although they still run masters comps in many disciplines. Aside from competition you are never too old to learn for fitness, self defence or the many other benefits. |

| Making Progress Join Date: Apr 2004 Location: Near Chesterfield Posts: 588 Rep Power: ![]() | I’m assuming you’ve been reading about Shaolin or Samuri training children from a very young age due to the potential joint flexibility and rapid adaptation to flexibility of the pre adolescent , and given that wondered if your late teens is to late to start…? Go for it you’ll never be any younger and your late teens is very young – true you are unlikely to ever have the flexibility of the above disciplines but then I doubt you’ll ever train 8-hours a day for seven days a week... but if you do who knows... I first trained in free style and my instructor wouldn’t entertain anyone under 18 as his view was any younger and you don’t have the mental discipline. Go for it! |

Judo will keep you supple and flexable,it is is great for stress relief,as soon as i step into my dojo,all my troubles from the day disappear. Go down and give it a go you will not regeat it |

And as Pikey says your still very young. Go for it. Stop worrying about it, your fears will cripple all your dreams if you let them. Hi Bukem good to see a name I know mate. |
