| Making Progress | i was shown taekwondo in the army, it is useful in some situations for getting out of holds & getting people under control but i wouldnt rate it as the best out there But i also boxed for my regiment & then for collyhurst & moston boxing club, sparred with Pat Barret, Robby Reid, Micheal Gomez , Micheal Brodie , Athony Farnell etc & the like...stopped boxing around 1994 & started weight training to build up as i was doing the doors. I boxed at welter weight belive it or not at 10st 4lb....LOL I done the doors for a good 6 years. like devilsquest said a good placed headbut will win every time |

Both are useful in a streetfighting scenario as when you regularly practice ANY martial art, it becomes second nature, so when someone provides a stimulus (ie throws a punch), you respond lightning quick without having to think. I would go with Taekwondo as it also includes throws and weapons (at advanced levels) as well as kicks, elbows and punches, but both are useful in a fight against Joe Bloggs. That said, in pro fighting you might wanna take up one of them as well as jui jitsu |

Just make sure its sparring heavy so you can get used to taking a punch and giving one out too, the biggest benefit believe it or not i think i have got from boxing is being hit in the head alot so i know how it feels to be hit , and from this learning how to take it. ______________________ "Im hardly a bum im training to become an arctech" - wannabebig |

My favortie move called the "dope fiend" in street terms does all you need to kock out the opponent with out leaving any marks or allow to over work yourself.. I think to be invincible to a hit and to only use chokes is more refined of a skill then just kicking someone in the shins once a week at the gym... Been wathcing 24! lol However I have been impressed with the shaolin monks ive met one who used to train the army in china and he taught them to kill fast! But then look at bruce lee he used the most effective movements instead of doing all the fancy lardidaah! Perhaps to the first question try do both and incorporate what you learn from both classes and use one another together. me done! |

Muay thai no rules competition rocks lol ______________________ Never give up.you should enjoy life to the full |
