Seems as though protein shakes should be different throughout the day. Now I am a beginner, ectomorph, and weigh 175lbs. I only use one scoop which is 24 grams of protein, is this enough? Granted I need a certain amount of protein through the day correlating to my body weight but it seems as some people load up on protein at certain times of the day, should I be doing that? Morning I have one scoop with water and have my breakfast also. Is this enough whey after sleeping 6 to 8 hours? Preworkout, I eat tuna and rice 45 minutes to an hour before workout. Is this okay? Seems as some have whey right before they workout, but don't I need the carbs for energy? Or the protein will be used for energy correct? After working out, I have heard conflicting things. Not to have carbs immediately, and have more whey than normal. Right now I take one scoop (24grams) and water. Specifically water because won't milk slow the protein absorption? Then I eat an hour later. Before bed, right now i take one scoop whey, and quarter cup of oats and a quarter cup of flax seed and grind them in a coffee grinder and mix it with milk. I just ordered casein for the first time and I will be using this before bed instead of the whey. Note: This isn't my diet, but specific concerns on protein shakes. I just ordered casein for the first time and will use that before bed and I plan on using oats and flax with all my shakes from now on, except after working out???? Once I get the casein I'm pretty much eliminating milk. My body doesnt process it too well. Thanks for the help guys. ______________________ I overdosed this time on pure adrenaline. If you were an AAS user then yes having more protein in one serving would be worth while however for yourself I would say this is fine. You are also right to take the PWO shake with water and not milk. Remember shakes are only there to supplement your diet not to be in place of good quality protein you could get through a good diet. |
