Default Toxic tuna? replacement ideas?

has anyone heard about tuna being toxic? apparently it contains higher than normal amounts of mercury, which in the long run can cause mental illness? anyone else heard about this? I have decided to cut down cus I think the info is correct (my mum is a nurse), to around 2 tins a week. Anyone got any other ideas for high protein, high carb meals? Also I only consume an egg a day (or the equiverlant of) to keep my cholesterol levels down. Gettin slightly bored of chicken. I am consuming 2-3 portions of chicken a day

Have to admit, haven't heard that before! :?

I don't like tuna much anyhow, so I tend to be like you and each chicken 3 times a day.

If I'm really struggling, i eat nuts, not the salted variety, just plain brazils, peanuts, cashews etc, absolutely FULL of protein, but also contain high fat, whilst not bad fat, still loads of fat.

My fella can get away with eating them, I struggle as fat goes straight to my ass, sure you'll be fine though.

I have heard this but quickly brushed it off. It can't possiby be that much of a risk otherwise manufacturers would have to do something about it. There may be some truth in it but it's just like every other month there's a scare about a possible meteor coming towards us or something, sure it's possible and there may be some truth in it but it's unlikely anything will come of it.

If you're that worried, add another protein shake (assuming you have protein shakes alread) in your day and have a flapjack or something for some quick, easy complex carbs (I swear by 'em!)

Good luck

Yeah, I've heard of that but I don't know how much you'd have to eat but heavy metals are stored in the body and cannot be excreated so it'd be a case of over time the heavy metal levels in the body would rise to a toxic level.

These metals are due to pollution in the seas being consumed by organisms which are then consumed by bigger organisms, which are then consumed by bigger organisms....you get the idea....we are at the end of this food chain.

I'll have a dig around and see if I can find anything more 'concrete' on the matter.

PS...

Tuna is like cat food so I'M alright!!!!
