Default IFBB Pro Ironman

well the first pro show of 2007 is nearly upon us...

Sat Feb 17th sees the Ironman kick off... the competitor list is as follows with some of my opinions on the contenders:

Edward Abbew - Eddie Abbew from the UK, never quite done it on the pro stage, hes good enough to get top 5 AT LEAST here in my opinion!!

Kris Dim - a big name, with good shape and a good look.. for me hes let down by over inflated triceps!!

Mark Dugdale - not competed many times as a pro, but a really good and well balanced physique top to bottom and front to back!

Toney Freeman - this guy is one BIG dude.. more than capable of obliterating the competition in my opinion... if hes dry and hard i cant see him placing out of the top 3... and from this list i think he has to be the favourite!

Ahmad Haidar - AB-zilla.... only thing he lacks is size... all the other things that make a good bodybuilder he has in abundance.. IF some of the bigger named "little guys" place high then so will ahmad!!

David Henry - MR CONDITION... this guys upper half is big full and as tight as can be.. especially from the back.. hes let down by his leg development tho... if this has improved he could well take the win... last year if i remember correctly he placed second behind a certain lee priest!

Silvio Samuel - spanish i belive?? could shock a few people if hes "on"... definitely one to keep an eye on for the future!

Luke Wood - big australian dude who has the potential to be a TOP pro... will he realise that potential in 2007????

Also Competing..............

Jason Arntz
Eryk Bui
Moe Elmoussaoui
Aiman Faour
Rusty Jeffers
Rod Ketchens
Martin Kjellstrom
Francesco Mazzotta
Daniele Seccarecci
Roc Shabazz
Sergey Shelestov
Clifton Torres
Hidetada Yamagishi
Fabrizio Zittucro

am guessing a few more names may appear in the next few weeks... but for now i really dont think this is a very strong field...

my tip for the win is toney freeman... followed hopefully by eddie abbew!!

I think with the bias moving more to aesthetic physiques we could see David Henry getting a win here too, he's short but its not about height, the guy is pretty flawless in my eyes.

for me his leg sweep lets him down too much.. although theres more of a shift to the more aesthetic look... i still think there has to be some element of excessive development. in the past his legs just didnt have that for me!

but like i say... in a field that isnt the best......

agree with lee. Toney freeman gotta be favourite. be good to see luke wood placing high, silvio samuel is probably the best balanced guy up there, and sergey shelestov is massive, but don't live in the us, so won't do much. Eddie Abbew got a great chance of a good placing, 1st show of the year so not the highest calibre of athletes in the ifbb.

everyone on stage looks amazing in the pics. tough show. great result for eddie abbew like lee says. it seems a return to asthetics is in vogue. the smaller guys placed very well in this show, and they deserved it in my opinion. the standard of conditioning these guys display is mind boggling. toughest sport in the world.
