I had a conversation with a mate today and he brought up the subject of posing music and how important it is to get it right. He competes but he's nearly 20 years younger than me. I've seen a few masters competitors get mugged in the press about their inappropriate choice of music. So, where to start. My gay mate Trevor thinks I should go for something dramatic like Dusty Springfield, or if worse comes to the worse, Steps! My mate who competes favours 50 Cent or 2Pac. I don't mind either on my ipod but it would look ridiculous for a man of my age. So, heres the challenge guys. You've heard of Song For Europe; this is Song For Hayes. A classy track thats not gonna make me look a complete ****. Bonus points for inappropriate songs as well. (I'm sure my mate Trevor could make himself available to present a prize to the winner) |

IF you choose the same song as lots of other people AND have a brilliant routine you will stand out above the rest!! so its catch 22... in the end i made my decision by watching the video of the last olympia.... and picking someone whos posing routine i really liked and whos posing i admired and felt like i wanted to pose like that one day... it just so happens that the person was the first person on the DVD - David Henry posing to Leap of Faith by R. Kelly... id never heard that song before and now i love it to bits! - and its a slow one too! my training parter whos getting on abit too (lol).. likes to pose to thunderstruck by ACDC.. but this year chose Cant touch this by mc hammer... but he has the physique to carry it off! ...mind you... you can put all the planning into the music but at the end of the day it could all go tits up like what happened to me the first time i ever stood on stage... walked out.. standed in pose ready for music to start... music starts.... 1 second... 2 seconds..... hold on thats not my music.... look up.. all i can see is blinding lights and the heads of a couple of judges... what do i do?? fcuk it i thought and started posing!!..... obviously my other half louise sitting in the crowd turns to eddie (my afore mentioned training partner) and says.. ed thats not his music... ed just says.. well hes doing bloody well then cos hes posing to it!! lol ______________________ If your not a part of the greatest... you got to be the greatest yourself! I guess you're right about the confidence thing and the fact that I'm asking the question shows I'm not that confident. Brilliant story about your first time. That shows you must be a real trooper to carry on regardless |

just because your not confident doesnt mean you wont do it well though... i will say practice makes perfect though... and it really does help with how your routine comes accross onstage! have it sorted 3-4 weeks out from the show and practice it every day even if its just going through it once with your clothes on! ______________________ If your not a part of the greatest... you got to be the greatest yourself!
