Sweaty cycling inside or running outside for best workout?
Hi all,
My first post here, I'm kind of a newbie when it comes to working out, although previously I used to keep myself generally fit by jogging. I'm 34, weighing about 175lb, 6 foot 1.
I'd like to lose some of the fat on my stomach, and some more on my fleshy glutei maximi, so in the last 2 months I've started running and in-door cycling. I'm fairly happy with my progress, now I usually do 10 or 11 kilometres in 1 hour when I run, or about the same sort of time for cycling (don't know the distance, maybe 30km, calorie meter gives a quote of ~ 300, but that seems kind of small for an hour of sweaty work). I try to do one of these 3 times a week.
Here's the question: which exercise is better for fat burning? I know running is generally the most exhaustive cardio (right?), but the thing is, I run outside, so I don't sweat that much, or don't notice it as much at least, because of the wind and cooler conditions. If I cycle indoors, sweat just pours out of me, as it's warmer inside. I imagine that 60 minutes of cycling is less calories than 60 minutes of running, but difference in "sweat" is huge on cycling. Is this amount of sweat a bonus in calorie (fat) burning?
Sorry if it sounds stupid, but I'm intrigued.
Thanks,
Neil
