Default Rowing

Hi guys. Just joined the forum

Im trying to work towards a better physique for the summer. Over the last year i've just been working fulltime in an office, near to no exercise (although i'm usually a very active person)

I have a rowing machine which I use pretty much every single day, however I only row for about 10 minutes (2 X 5mins with 1 min rest) I find i get sooo bored after 10 mins, and also pretty knackered.

Basically, is 10mins every day going to change my body significantly over the next few months, or should I be doing 30-40mins, say, 3 times a week..?!?!

Cheers

No!Burning calorie's for only 10 minutes a day is'nt using more than what you put in.You must evaluate your diet, get it as low calorie as you need and increase your rowing time so more is used as fuel than what is put into your body.

If boredom is the issue then do Tabatas on the Rower - 20secs all out work, 10secs rest/pulsing.

Start at 4mins, work your way upto 10 or 12 mins.

You still need to sort your diet out though - this is assuming you wish to loose fat...

Thanks for the input so far guys.
I'm 20 years old, weigh 10 stone 8 and am 5'7 tall. I don't have a huge amount of noticable fat on me, just a little bit around the waist and would like to firm my pecs up a bit. My diet's pretty good, I rarely snack on junk food. Have cereals, fruit/veg every day, good healthy meal each night of some kind of meat, veg and carbs. I've started to drink lots more water too, gone from about 1-2 pints a day to 4-5 pints.

I definately see what you mean about rowing for 10mins not being sufficient to burn the daily calories. Maybe I should find a new sport which doesn't bore me when exercising for 30-40mins at a time. I'm not really interested in weight training at a gym, I just want to get a bit more definition and generally fitter!

I'll try the Tabatas...never heard of it until now! Cheers
