Horizontal Cardio is 1/3rd as good at burning Calories as running:

Calories Burned Chart By Activity

Therefor you need to educate your good lady that 3 times as much is needed

Hi mate yeah i agree that intervall training is deffo the best type of cardio there possibly is, it develops your lungs and strengthens your heart, however instead of timing your sprints try just picking piont on your route ie, from onle lamp post to one in the distance least you can keep your eyes on the route instead of looking t your watch,

oh and maybe try investing in a heart monitor they are a really good bit of running kit

I like the old fasioned stationary bike but this plan of action can work on any thing.I find my build up pace for the first ten minutes then go at a pace where I could only just hold a conversation..if gasping for breath and not able to talk then too intense and beyond fat burning and if drifting along and can chat easy then not doing much at all. After 15-20 minutes you should have a good sweat on.45-60 min first thing in the morning does me when its "ninnie diet" and competition time. Guess a little old school to all these state of art cardio machines with buttons and zone for age, weight and fat burning etc but 100% works for me.....sex does have the edge on enjoyability though!!!

IMO the smartest move is to do low impact cardio.

Walking on a treadmill

stationary bike

rower

swimming

etc etc
