I've been trying to increase my cardio to 45 minutes eod. If I'm doing it at the gym, I'll use the treadmill- if its at home, I'll use the bike. But it doesn't matter which cardio I do, I always end up with a swollen left knee and it's fairly painful for a day or two after. What I don't get is that I can do a heavy duty leg workout and not experience the same sort of knee problem. Has anyone got any ideas as to what might be happening here. Also, if The cardio I'm doing aggravates the knee, can you suggest any alternatives? Cheers |

The more I think about it, the problem is more with the bike;I don't get it any way near so bad with the run. As for starting slowly - I do when I'm on the treadmill but I find the bike so boring, I picture myself at the velodrome and go like the clappers from the off. |

| Illuminati | dude!-for us older gentleman stretching should be mandatory- personally i think it should be so for everyone tho! also if i`m training hard as i am now-adding cardio is a body wrecker. i only do cardio at the beginning of my training cycle-basically when my joints arent getting hammered. ______________________ einsteins mind was the key to all things...to understand more than to know. www.englishmuscle.co.uk www.extremenutrition.co.uk |

I think id try Nicks possible solution if this does not work then i think you may have a cartlidge problem. Have a look on this forum http://www.runnersworld.co.uk you might find the answer. |

Cal, I know you're right about the stretching and need to take more care of my joints (Nick - I don't actually take supplements for joints) Good wake up call lads - I'll get on to this |
