Default Something new (to me)

Thought I'd run this past you guys.
I met a dude in the gym who works in the fitness industry and was in bloomin good condition, we got talking and he asked me if i wanted to join him while he trained arms, I agreed and this is how it went:

We had both been training for a little while when we got talking so we decid to finish the session with a quick arm blitz. We began with erm, overhead tricep pulls?? I'm sure u know what I mean, anyway, the point is we trained using a stopwatch, on a reasonably managable weight, the dude began cranking out quick reps for 45 seconds, I then took over as the clock hit the minute mark, I then worked the set for 45 seconds and so on and so forth, this meant we were working for 45 seconds, resting for 1 minute and it gave a 15 second gap for a change over , we repeatethis for 11 minutes, dropping the weight each set. We then repeated this method for push downs, skull crushers and hammer curls. I have never trained like this before but I really enjoyed it, I found the pain set in around the 20 second mark and by 30 seconds my muscles were screaming, but u just tough it out until at last u complete ur 45 secs.

Has anyone else trained using this method before??

Incidently, I trained shoulders yesterday using the above method, and this morning it feels like I've been shoulderpressing Vanessa Feltz!!

lol I would of paid good money to see that!

I'm sure its been Christened with some name by someone. It sounds like a form of circuit training to me just on one body part.

It'll rip you up good but wether or not it promotes mass is another matter.Might help to mix things up a bit if your in a rutt!

I would be interested to see how that routine worked on abs.I'm game for pain on them, always.

Always worth giving it a try. If it's comfortable already your a step ahead.

Training by the clock isnt realy anything new. tom platz used to squat by the clock up to ten miniutes with more weight Than most people can use for ten reps lol.

as Gazz says great for variation or shocking a bodypart .

Sounds great, why not! Gotta be good to mix things up now n then, if anything it makes it fun again to workout especially if things are becoming a chore.
Sometimes if i've had a crappy weeks workout, i'll go in early saturday just for pumps.
Blows the muscles up a bit, makes you feel good.
