Default order of workout

quick questions for you all, was thinking the other day as i started training with someone who trains there splits different to how i normally do.

I normally train 2 muscle groups per session and alternate between the 2 each exersice, I.E chest exersise followed by tricep exersise then chest then tri and so on. But my new training partner trains all of one group then all the second group.

Just wondered how other people trained and what peoples views were on it, what works etc

discuss..

I don't like the idea of chest followed by tricep etc, My triceps take a beating when I bench. I do like to superset bench with chin ups tho, I find, by the time my set of chins is done, my chest has recovered enough to press again.

Nath, do you not train more than one group at once? i train chest and tri's but it was just an example.

young gun, take it you mean group and not exersise?

i feel like i keep better form and lift more when i alternate throughout the session, guess this is due to allowing the muscle to rest between sets. But i get much more fatigue and more pumped when training one group then the other even though im doing the same workout.

If im doing the same workout could the gains be different as you hitting the muscle differently?

By training this way you are taking away the intensity on a muscle the muscle is supposed to be fataiged and pumped .

I agree meant the opposite. I do 1 chest exercise then 1 tri exercise.

Otherwise I feel momentarily fatigued. If I did two chest exercises in a row my chest would be so fatigued that my performance on the second would be extremely poor. Open to suggestiosn though. I just do what feels right. Not offering an opinion as to what you should do just stating what I do.

i still feel fataiged and pumped just not to the extreme of doing one group at a time.

Smile Re: order of workout

As the primary reason for me training is to stimulate muscle growth – honest though you’d wouldn’t know it sometimes – I will try to exhaust that muscle quickly which means keeping the intensity up so I’d never train one chest exercise then one triceps. Sometimes might superset push pull though…
