On a smith you have a linear ROM - so only need to think about pushing the weight up and lowering down. BB Bench - you need to control the weight from falling back/forwards DB Bench - as above but the DBs can move to the left or right. | |

Ive recently started to focus more on dumbell press and fly's and leave my bench pressing till last. Is that 70kg plus the bar? cos depending on your bar some can weigh upto 20lbs |

You only have to look at leg press versus squat to see that - I can leg press 350kg+, but the heaviest i've ever squatted is around 160kg for 6-8. Ali, olympic bars are around 44lbs - 20kg. |

| id agree with Tall, on a smith machine you only have to worry about pushing the weight and not about it moving around and keeping it steady. I can lift about 20Kg more using a smith machine but always use a olympic bar now. ______________________ "Lack of will power has caused more failure than lack of intelligence or ability." I've been trying to close the gap by standing on a raised block when I deadlift to try and engage my legs more (any thoughts about this?? recomended?) I'd say the shorter fellas have the advantage in most areas of lifting although my mate has far better biceps that me, they seem really long and he curls way more weight than I do yet I press more on pretty much every other discipline. Inspires me to really work my biceps to catch him.......the swine!!!!! |
