Default Recovery Time

At the moment my 'upper body' (Arms, Shoulders, Back, Chest) seems to be recovering considerably faster than my 'lower body' (Abs, Lowerback, Glutes, Legs)

I.e. the day after an upper body workout I feel smoked, but I'm 'recovered' 2 days after the workout, yet legs seem to take a good 5 days to recover.

Any one else have this?

Only natural if you ask me mate.

Lower body movements such as squats you use a lot more weight, so gonna cause more
Microtrauma. Your then ache for longer. They also take more out the tank so to speak, there just more taxing in general.

Also remember that recovery is not only about muscular recovery, its also about CNS recovery. (and heavy exercises such as squats tax cns more than upper body movements)

CNS takes longer than muscular recovery, depending on how you train ( more fatigue or force) it can take upto 5 days. (so i read)

Default Re: Recovery Time

Legs generally take longer due to recuriting other areas e.g. back, shoulders on squats, back on hamstings etc.

Therefore theres more stress on the CNS than upper body.
