Default Bad Shoulder

about 7 weeks ago i did deadlifts, then day after shoulder/traps was sore. Went to do dumbell press, leant back and twisted my left shoulder and said to my mate at the time. Damn that will hurt tomorrow.

Anyway 7 weeks on its still hurting, its in a very specific spot, really hurts when i do benchpress and even more so when i do incline press.
I cant lay on my side in bed as it puts pressure on my shoulder and havent been able do to this since the day i did it.
yet if im sitting up right etc doesnt hurt at all, only time i feel pain is if i try and lay on my shoulder or benchpress once a week.
At first it felt like i ripped my trap muscle but now its more on the shoulder bone where the trap muscle tappers off.
Doctor said i just strained it but its really effecting my chest workouts.
when i do shoulders its very minimal pain doing standing Millitary press with barbell and when i do seated dumbell press i dont feel anything in the shoulder.
But really bad flat bench/incline.

Any ideas? if its just a strain what you suggest to supress the pain when im training? and for the sake of sleeping on the shoulder how long u think that will be before i can sleep on it. been 7 weeks already.

its really odd, like i said i dont feel any pain at all only when pressure is applied or when i bench. Longer the session goes on more intense the pain gets.

Im sitting here now swinging my arms around in a loop motion etc, simulating the benchpress with no weight obviously and dont feel any pain. But i know come next time i try bench/sleep it will hurt!

Mate your defo not making things any better, sounds to me you need to totally lay of it for a week or even more otherwise the injury will not heal.

Ive had my fare share of injuries over the years, not many to do with weights. However if a have a niggle i will always book into physio and have it sorted cost around £20 for a session and its well worth it.

Just a guess here but i think its something to do with a nerve, trapped or strained.

I agree with Ali M, see a physio, and rest it for now. Try and find an ART practitioner:

Active Release Techniques®

I am currently seeing one for my shoulder injury (AC tightness), and it's helping a lot.

I did the very same thing a couple of weeks ago, went too heavy on DB presses in my third set and lost my balance. Long story short, sore shoulder, no training for just over a week plus nurofen to reduce swelling and a bag of frozen peas on the shoulder at night, 10 minutes on , 10 minutes off.

I trained again last night for the first time and we kept the work out simple and didn't include any shoulders or movements that required much input from the shoulder - check out my log for the exercises.

Hope it gets better soon
