Default thigh injury

i refelted the GF`s roof the other week and didnt use any knee pads!
day after that my knee cap felt kinda numb, but it didnt seem bad enuff not to train.
i train shin height rest pause trap bar deads(lol mouthful)every workout due to a back prob and the knee thing never seemed bad enuff to stop.
it did get worse cos getting up out of a chair and pushing myself up became very uncomfortable as did walking but it was ok once i was going...
doing deads was fine too for some reason altho iwas real careful.
anyhoo i worked my way up to my pb-
hit it(well chuffed)added 0.5kg next workout and instead of the usual 20 i failed on no.7.
there was absolutely no push in my thighs at all.
that was 10 days ago and my thighs feel as if ive damaged the attach points at knee and hip for the thigh muscles.

is this likely?
what else could i have done?
i`m using cissus quadrangulus in the hope of it helping, but other than my usual stretching routine and resting it completely, is there owt else i can do to help things along?

nice one.

Heat pack on the injury then massage it and try to dig your fingers in around where the pain is. Ive used bean bags in the past heat them up in your microwave and then apply them to the injury then massage lightly. You need to get the blood flowing to the injury, you can do this 3 times daily and i guarantee you will notice a difference after the first day.

Good luck!

This is great advice, but I need to add something to it.

In certain situations, an increased blood flow via heat is a definite improvement - more blood, more nutrients, etc. However, if the inflammatory response reduces mobility (and thus causes more irritation), it can be useful to simply use ice packs. In your case Cal, i'm inclined to think that you may be best off icing the joint, rather than heat - physiotherapists tend not to suggest heat pads for acute injury. Acute being something that directly prevents a particular action taking place.

nice one raz i had an idea that is wasnt that straight forward, heat on my back does help, but i iusually stick to the RICE formula.
ive been recommended to try sommat called flexicose too-
which i will.

Cal...I'm no expert bud but it sounds to me like you may have damaged the bursar which is a sack of fluid that sits in front of the knee cap, when you were doing the roof. I think the condition is called pre-patella bursitis ('house maids knee' ..for obvious reasons!) carpet fitters suffer a lot with this. You most probably overstressed the thigh during the subsequent training session when your body may have over compensated for the injury and although you felt ok ..your form went bye-bye's. Hence the reaction in the thigh.
I'd agree with the RICE approach if you have knee joint swelling to get rid of the inflammation and take it from there.
