Default Early Morning Training

Does anyone train early in the morning (i.e. before 7am?)

If so how do you get your energy at that time...?

I did it today and while I was motivated and awake I felt as though I needed more energy to class the workout as 'intense'

I know I'm on a sub-'maintenance' diet and so my energy levels won't be great, but it looks like I'll be working out at that time going forward so all help appreciated.

re arrange your diet a little.. if you have a high carb breakfast.. have this as last meal the night before.. this way it is digested and ready to use as energy...

if your in a calorie defecit.. the first thing your body wants in the morning is a refuel.. so this needs to be addressed... BUT if you have digested the high carbs before bed it shouldnt need that refuel!

you should still be able to exactly the same meals as training later in the day.. but you should structure them so that your energy/carb intake is geared toward being at its best for your training.

I'm 'cutting' (i.e. focus is mainly fat loss) this week - and as of next week I'm trying to increase muscle mass and decrease body fat.

POA is to get and stay lean.

I train mostly early morning and find it useful to eat a good size bowl of museli with natural yoghurt and prunes before bed, I might take a banana with me to the gym to keep me going. I personally find that I need to eat te museli just before bed, any earlier and I can't get off to sleep. I was once told that it's not a good idea to eat just before bed but I figure that the museli combo is V.low fat so I can get away with it. Occasionally if I'm feelin very lethargic, I might indulge in a ECA stacker about 40 mins before training, they seem to work better on an empty stomach but are def only for occasional use.
