Question painful wrists and forearms? help

I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has suffered an injury and still managed to continue with bodybuilding program. excuse the long
windedness for a first post!

Last year I started BB, main intention was to lose some body fat but also to get the toned look and be firm. After 2 months of getting into it I started a plan involving 4 days a week of split training with weights (abs on each of the four days) and 5-6 days 1 hr walk. I was also watching my diet. Things were going smoothly and i was actually getting a buzz from my routine.

To cut long story short I injured my wrists and tendons in forearms while doing bicep curls using barbells. I think it was accumulation of other exercises and lack of rest that did it. It was so bad took time off work ( I use my hands at work which aggravated the situation.
Went to gp and saw an osteopath for 2 months-suggested take time out. My diet and everything else went to pot!!

ive tried to get back into it, but still have the soreness... most of the exercises involve griping of the palms and using wrists and forearms.

I really dont want to give up, i would love to get back in to it again, and aim for the body i want.

Ive tried to get some wrist straps, what else can i do!!

cheers

Hi mate, welcome to MC, it's a bad blow having an ijury no matter what it is?
But if you are still getting these problems you need to seek gurther medical advise its obviously not healed right??
I would take it easy in the gym involving your wrists and keep on a strict diet and CV routine untill the matter is solved, injuries take time!!

as said above - the doctors should be your next port of call.. see if you can get referred to a physio or something..

i know someone with a similar problem and he has been told that tendon damage can take up to a year to heal so you may be out for a while im afraid..

keep the cardio up though and you can easily pick up where you left off later

My gp checked my hand and said it was just strain, and take a time out. One of the bb at the gym i go gave me the name of a good osteo which made a real improvement as i had pain on lifting shopping bags and kettle...
its been about 6months now, and i tried to get back into things but not as intensive. I reduced the size of weights i used, used WL gloves and wrist straps which helped alot but still sore because nearly all upper body exercises you need to grip.

I will go back to doing leg exercise, decline ab crunches and cardio. I hope i can start lifting heavy again in the future, as i found this was something i really enjoyed. Need to get my back into clean diet. I havn't got any excuses really but i lost my focus and started to eat crap and put weight on. I was told it happens.

hope to pick up some valuable info on exercises and diet from you guys.

thanks for the responses and any more help would be appreciated.

cheers
