I work on ships and I will soon be going to a small vessel that I know only has a bench and barbell / dumbells. I will be there for about 6 weeks. My training is going to take a hit I think, heavy weights are out as are squatting / deadlifts etc. because of the rolling motion of the ship. I was thinking of doing the following, any extra ideas would be welcome. Chest : Bench press not so heavy but very strict to failure Triceps : Dips off a chair Biceps : Curls Delts : Seated DB Press Back : DB row and / or wide grip press ups Legs??? Struggling here although my work is quite physical and there is a lot of heavy carrying up and down ladders and stairs. I obviously wont be able to go as heavy as I do in the gym, so do you think I should increase reps or go to failure on every set? Any suggestions welcome, cheers. |

To be honest im of the opinion that a good old fashioned chin up bar does the job wherever you are. I think its also good that my bodys gets a bit of a break every few weeks when i cant train. i must admit though im looking forward to hitting the gym hard again when i get home. |

Lingyai - i dont see you've got much option mate. I like the routine you've mapped out.Even if you dont gain much during that period, you shouldnt lose much either |

I'll do my best but of course but on a rolling ship it is all about dedication, you have to start from day one or you get lazy. Sometimes it can be a challenge when benching. One minute the bar feels like it has 50K and the next rep 90 as the ship goes up and down. Oh Joy. Still, bodybuilding don't pay the bills (for me anyway). Cheers |
