| Making Progress Join Date: Oct 2006 Posts: 350 Rep Power: ![]() | Me leg routine with intention of building mass and gaining strength....goes something like this: Squats (nice and deep): 20 x 60 kg 15 -20 x 70 kg Above two done as warm up....insufficient? 10 x 80 10 x 95 10 x 100 plus. Progressively adding weight each week. Then... Pivoted leg press machine (hoping you are familiar with this): 10 x 270 kg 10 x 280 kg 10 x 290 kg On these I struggle with the first set and as my legs fill with blood they get more power. Thats only six working sets. Enough for a major body part? I feel as if I could do much more....but they do get a hammering from this...so I have been presuming its enough. I dont notice gains on my legs the same as I do with other areas, but Im sure I am gaining. Im hoping this isnt a silly post, any comments would be nice. ______________________ http://WWW.HulahoopsAreAQualityCompleteProteinSource.Com |

| Illuminati | i reckon 20x60 is more preexhaust than a warm up tbh. given that your working weight is only 100- i reckon if my legs can grow on the partials that i do(cos of limited exercises at my disposal-see vid lol)you should be fine. get your warmups right and you`ll be able to lift more on squats. squats should be your main priority for progression- not sure ratio for squats and leg press but leg press seems way ahead? squats are the daddy! lol imo if you keep your squats nice and deep you`ll be starting a thread about back pain in a months time lmao. good to see you trying abit of progression ______________________ einsteins mind was the key to all things...to understand more than to know. www.englishmuscle.co.uk www.extremenutrition.co.uk |

Used to do partials like you, never going beyond parallel, my lifts where much heavier than what they are now. Since I have been going beyond parallel my lifts are comparatively tiny, which is probably why my lifts are only 100 +. That could explain why my leg presses seem way ahead of the squats...also I used to a cyclist of mountains, so my legs have a fair amount of strength in them. Back pain? Is that a serious opinion? I am very careful about form, even film myself to check. I am more worried about knee problems to be honest, Ive had them bad in the past....also my hips have been dodgy.....all from cycling....so I have to be careful, Im only a young lad and dont want crumbling joints by the age of 35! ______________________ http://WWW.HulahoopsAreAQualityCompleteProteinSource.Com |

| Illuminati | lol no i dont think going below parallel is worth the risk of a little more stimulation. (unless youre top level) ______________________ einsteins mind was the key to all things...to understand more than to know. www.englishmuscle.co.uk www.extremenutrition.co.uk |
