| Under Construction Join Date: Jul 2006 Posts: 34 Rep Power: ![]() | I want to lose some weight around the belly, but will mixing weights and cardio in one session prevent my muscle gains? I've heard you lose more fat doing weight training then cardio!! is this true? thanks. |

| Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Bristol Posts: 3,227 Rep Power: ![]() | Low intensity cardio, so heart rate 120 - 140BPM, for 1 hour in the morning, is the most ideal in my opinion, but not at the same time as weights. Ideally split the cardio and the weights up by 6 - 8 hours. Also, hammer the protein around the cardio and weights sessions to stop the cortisol killing your muscles. Doing lots of cardio will prevent muscle gains, don't expect to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time unless you are (a) a beginner (b) on gear (c) genetically blessed. | Legend Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: www.counselling-for-men.co.uk Posts: 651 Rep Power: ![]() | If you do the low intensity cardio Nick suggested, stick firmly to a good clean diet and do a hefty dose of abs work in your programme, you can bring your belly down and not jeopardise your mass building. I still think the 2 goals conflict slightly. I can't imagine from what you've said in other threads that your belly is sticking out that much. Why not devote three months to putting size on and then have a smiliar amount of time cutting. Or vice versa |

Even if i dedicate myself to training properly!! Jon doesn't think im very serious about training because i was going to jump straight into steroids!!! but can still help each other!! thanks. |

If your 6-8 meals a day are big macs, then you're right to worry. Chill out Zane and get on with it. If you put as much energy into your workouts as you do worrying, you'd be the size of a tank by now. Keep us updated on your progress. You've got me hooked for one |
