Default Thinking about my goals... Need your advice

Hi people

As you might know, i'm in the middle of a bulk at the moment. For all intents and purposes its going pretty well. I've had good strength gains, i've put on about 20lbs, and i've definitely added size.

However...

Have been thinking in the long run about what I want as a training bodybuilder/weightlifter, and kinda wanting to lean out and cut now. What do you people think about that? My initial plan was to get to 16 stone regardless of fat, but my weight hasn't gained in 2 weeks and I don't like the thought of further fat?

i'm currently 15 and 1/2 stone, probably nearing 19 - 20% BF...

Look forward to hearing your opinions, help me out guys / girls !

well id cutt now if i was in your shoes,,,,then once u r done and see how good u r lookin cutt up id be inclind to think it would help give you new motivation for your next bulkin faze!!!plus then u can see if u do indeed want to bulk any more or if u are happy with your size now?plus once cutt up your get so much more pussy as well

ah i'm locked down in a long term relationship already so pussy isn't a concern

you might have a point, i think i'll continue the bulk for at least the next couple of weeks (until the USPLabs supplements are over) and then review what i'm doing.

honestly, it depends on what your oveall goals are...for example, I am 6' tall and currently at 198-201 @ 13% BF...my ultimate goal is to be 210-215 @ 10%BF...so I'm gonna bulk way up to about 225 then cut like hell and hopefully end up where i want to be...may take two years or so even...donno...but you need to answer for yourself what you want your end goal to be...if you want to be 19%bf at a certain weight, then no probs, if you want lower bf at a higher weight you can either bulk&cut, bulk&cut repetively until you get there or cut to your desired bf and then try to lean bulk (which we all know takes MUCH longer)...make sense?

The other thing to think about is summer is just round the corner. this is the time to be in shape. you could start a cut for summer enjoy your summer in good shape then cycle a building phase all through next winter. 8)

just as a note i find you can build much better and with better quality after you have been on a cutting cycle

fat boy has got a good point summer is around the corner and you wanna be able to show off when you playing footy in the park and what not.

You have bulked up really well nick anyways, I mean were you not about 14 something stone about 6 months ago?

Try to draw up a plan for losing your target amount of body fat and how long you estimate (realistically) it is going to take. See what your options are!

thanks for all your help guys.

I don't want to be 19% BF forever, i'm definitely too fat atm haha

i would like a solid 10 - 12% like back when i was 11 stone 5 18 months ago after i cut HARD

i think i will finish the USPLabs run, then take a good hard look at myself and think about it then. I'll be eating lots until then though !

Jay123 i'd be interested to know your opinion on 'lean bulk' strategies. Do you think they work?

Splinter/fat boy definiitely want to look good for the summer, i was 14 stone less than 6 months ago, more like 3 - 4 (!)

i think lean bulking is more suited to someone training fairly naturally-maintainence cals + 300-500 cals a day

i like the increased 'size', but definitely feeling the bad points of having quite a big belly / love handles atm, i no longer fit into my suit either
