A possible theory as to why it is difficult to add mass onto ones calves....
Every time we take a step it's a calf raise of 200lbs (example) so we are constantly overtraining them! I think a good experiment to try would be to have someone train calves heavy then simply sit down until the next calves workout. The result would be growth because they have plenty of time to recover and grow without walking hindering the process via overtraining! What do you think? |

it would be interesting to see the results of that but for me it is not possible.
i have 2 ways of building the calves which work great. extremely heavy weights or the 3 minute work out. only trained once a week before deadlifts steve |

everything ive heard about calves generally involves incredibly high volume-100 reps or lots of weight and every day workouts etc-
but since september ive been training calves 2x a week directly after squat/deads with single leg calf raises at 15 reps + weight-theyre up by 3/4"-now 14"1/4- dont look any better tho  |

...dont forget that every one has a different genetic potential to grow certain body parts better than others...also, I have recently re-discovered that generally one body part experiences significant growth at a time while the others seem to just maintain...damn i hate that...
