Default Note-taking in the Gym

This is just a post to see if anybody takes note of their sets and weights in the gym?

Personally I don't bother, but I know several people that write the amount of reps they did per set and on what exercise, for example.

If anybody does, how do they structure it, and is it usually combined with an improvements system, i.e. you make yourself do 1 rep more per week on the same weight, or when you reach 10 reps of a certain weight you increase it for example?

Would be handy if anybody has a scanner to scan one of their sheets in for us to look at.

Nick

I used to do as you explained nick and its very good for motivation, if i did 6 reps last week id really try and beat it, its good for making sure you give it your all on every set.
However the way i recorded stuff down was a bit of a mess and i stopped bothering with doing it.

that is exactly what i do, and it is great for motivation, you really do try and sqeeze out one more rep to beat the previous one.

I have always done it so i will continue to do so.

I used to do this, but now I've been doing it for so long I can always remember my routines, even when I change them. I can remember my poundage too.

I keep a note of EVEYTHING during a training session as far as possible, exercise, sets, reps weight, time taken between sets so i can improve on each session the next time. E.g either more reps or more weight of sometimes just less time between sets to add intensity. I used to take with me what i had done for the previous session sso i could say, beat the reps by one but i find that klimits me psychologically so i just do as best i can on each set but that means that when i get to the end of the set i always think in my mind "what if i only did this many last week?" so i try for one more then one more etc etc. I find this works better as it means i push myself harder.

I used to do this when I started, though in the last year or so Ive knocked it on the head as I can remember what weights I do. I still keep a record of my lifts every 8 weeks or so, as it is good for motivation, but I dont find anything more often worth it as strength increases are much slower these days!

I do it. It helps me stay focused and tight on a work out, i instantly know if my prep was good. Food and sleep i mean. If i cant reachwhat i did last time, somethings up.

I break my own records EVERY time maybe by one rep maybe five. the point is i break them. When i got 5 sets of 5 on that wieght, the wieght goes up! simple...
