Default Stretching

How important is it to stretch before and after training?

I personally never stretch and was wondering what your thoughts are on it?

Why is it important and besides flexibility what other gains are there to be had from stretching?

before i did any research or had a routine i just did a few static stretches before training, I now do 5 mins on the row machine before and after training just breaking into a sweat at the end of it (i.e not flat out)

I find this is loads better as with static stretching i was literally taking days to recover.

I was wondering the same thing.
If you already row before and after a workout is this sufficent?

I've found that stretching pre workout has prevented me from having injuries.
I never used to stretch, just done a quick warm up. But I used to get little pains here and there.
But since i've started to stretch regularly,no pains.

if you dont stretch or warm up or somehow, you are beggin for injuries...ive seen peeps advise to stretch between sets, but I dont like that...jus a nice quick stretch and superlight first set to get the blood flowing to the muscle group...

Stretching is best perfoermed on the bodypart trained at the end of the workout. The muscle is pumped and full, stretching will cause an effect similar to "muscle memory" whereby new muscle will grow into the prestretched tissue.
