Default Lateral pulldown

I was wondering if anyone could tell what is the best grip to use when training the latereral area with the lateral pulldown. I just recently purchased a machine and I am really trying to develop a v shape. What is the best grip to use to do this? Basically what I mean is how should I hold the pulldown bar. I hope I made myself clear.

You can hold the Lat Pull down Bar in so many ways,

Wide Grip probably best, you can also do close grip, reverse close grip. Its all good For the V Shape i think wide grip would be best

Do some of them all! The back is a collection of many muscles which all need to be developed and all the different angles and grips exhibit a differing stress to the different areas of the back, thus giving a complete development, thickness, width and the elusive V.
