| Making Progress Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: In my house Posts: 175 Rep Power: ![]() | I came off a Creatine cycle a little over a week ago and I've lost about 3lbs I expected to drop some water weight so this didn't bother me, and my lifts have continued to increase so over all I was still happy. Today I hit the gym and I felt ok till I started lifting, today was a chest and triceps day and as I have mentioned me and my TP split chest into flat one week, decline the next and incline the week after that and then switch back. So its a flat day which to be honest is my favourite of the three, we can't get a bench so we hit the smith machine, I start warming up with 20 reps at 170lbs and by the 14th rep I'm feeling tired and the weights feeling more like theres 3 45's a side on there! Last time I was on the smith machine on a flat I had 280lbs for 8 and I really wanted 300lbs for 6 as I know I've got stronger since then. So I come off the warm up set and I feel really flat and tired, but try to shake it off and go for 260lbs for 12 I had to rack it back after 3 reps as it just wasn't feeling right, it was like my arms were lead weights. Now me being me I get really frustrated and refuse to let my TP take some weight off, ad go under again this time I grind out 12 reps but I do me grind! my form was ****ing awful! Still I won't be beaten and we go up to 290lbs my TP hits 10 on his set and I really really want 10 to! I go under the bar unhook it and same thing I squeeze 3 reps out then rack it, I get up kick the bench throw my water bottle across the floor and shout so loud the whole gym stops. I refuse again to let him take some weight off and I go under again and manage to squeeze out 10 reps, slightly better form this time but I'm still pissed off at myself cause I know I can do this! so we go for 300lbs my TP nails 6 with good form and by now I'm psyching myself out I went under the bar then got back up before unhooking it in my head I'm going "its to ****ing heavy I can't do it" all the while the other part of my head is going "come on pussy you've done this on a normal bench for 4 this is a ****ing smith machine!" My TP starts really winding me up calling me a pussy and grabs hold of my shirt and tells me I can do this or go the **** home. So I go under the bar once more unhook it and get a ****ing mint 6 reps with perfect form and even though it feels heavy and I was so in control it was unreal. I get up pumped to **** and then we down the weight to 260 and I piss 12 with good form then we go down to 230 and I nail 14 good form for the final set. Then we hit the flat dumbell press and I grab a couple of 40kgs (dumbells are in kgs, plates are in lbs in my gym go figure?) and I'm a bit aprehensive as I was struggling on the Smith but I piss all over 12 reps and move up to 42kgs and hit 10 no probs then finish with 2 sets of 6 with 44kg dumbells. On the final set of 44's I even had to blokes stop to watch me and as I dropped them to the floor after my 6th rep one of them said "Hes a strong ****er" which I must admit made me smile. Even with the good lifts I was spent and we still had flyes and a full tricep workout to go I really was feeling like I gad no energy at all! We hit flyes and I can only use one word to describe them SHIT I had nothing left I was spent which isn't like me at all. So we move on to tri's and I pissed everything It was like I had a second wind and I was feeling strong again. So we finish with some push ups to get a good pump and I fell flat on my face by my 30th one and really didn't think I was getting up I usually crank out 50 no probs but it wasn't happening tonight. Does anyone else have days like this where your up and down during a workout? I'm thinking maybe coming off the creatine has caught up with me and I'm feeling the loss of endurance, I was going to leave it another week or so before cycling it again but I'm wondering if I should just **** it and start loading again tomorrow, any suggestions? |

| Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: florida usa Posts: 642 Rep Power: ![]() | oh youre special alright, and over here we have a special short bus that picks up the special kids to go to school! seriously though, i get that way sometimes when im doing a body part i dont like to work, so if its a night where im doing two parts i like to put the least fave with one i like to do. then i do the one i dont like first. i really hate just going thru the motions though, i dont think i get as good of a workout. i know how you feel though, if i couldnt do more than 6 reps with 300lbs id feel like a big pussy too! j/k, sounds like it was just an off day, we all get those, as long as you move on from it and it doesnt happen continuously. ______________________ that which does not kill me only serves to make me stronger. |

I actually enjoy chest and tricep day, its Leg day that I hate but have to do because I know its essential. Which is why it was so weird I've had off days before, but I seemed to peak and trough tonight rather than just trough. Your right though I need to get it out of my head before my next workout otherwise It could become a trend. What about going back on the creatine anyone think I should leave it or start loading it tomorrow? | |

| Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: florida usa Posts: 642 Rep Power: ![]() | im not sure of the health concerns if any involved, never did the stuff myself. but it might also be a big mental thing too, like a crutch. you know youre not on it anymore so you dont think you can perform like you did when you were. what the mind believes the body acheives. i would try it for a week without and if its still not improving for you, go back. i know it did make some difference but im pretty sure that it wasnt that big and certainly not going to be that much change in that short of a time, but like i said i dont know from exp. but from what i know of you on here you are a decently experienced lifter and this doesnt sound like something that would be long term for you. was it just when you did chest and tris? i had no problem getting back into my workout even after being down almost 2 months after a cycle in which i made explosive gains in size and strength. in fact, the only thing i could not do as heavy as i did on cycle was chest. its the only part that i backslid some in off cycle. ______________________ that which does not kill me only serves to make me stronger. |

| Making Progress Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: In my house Posts: 175 Rep Power: ![]() | Yeah just chest and tris worked legs on saturday and my squat went up by another 30lbs or so, thats why it confused me when I got underneath a bench I usally lift no probs and all of a sudden it was heavy as ****! My tris also were no problem didn't gain any but didn't lose any either. The only reason I point to the creatine is that maybe I've lost a bit of endurance after all the weights went up I just felt really flat. I've had a sore throat the last couple of nights though when I think about it so maybe I'm coming down with something and its making me a bit lethargic. I will see how cardio goes tomorrow as this is a real test of endurance and lately my cardio has got longer and longer and I feel myself getting fitter every session. If I'm feeling tired on that to I will get myself checked out make sure I haven't caught something and see how it goes. As far as I know theres no health risks with Creatine well not serious ones anyway, and a lot of atheletes never cycle it just use it constantly, but your right the 3lbs I lost even though I know its from water have made me wonder if I've lost any strength or endurance I could indeed have just willed it to happen. Mind over matter and all that.. |

| Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: florida usa Posts: 642 Rep Power: ![]() | whenever i feel like im coming down with something (with the exception of the laryngitis i just got over) i start pumping myself full of vitamin c. it works fairly well on most of the little things that go around. i wouldnt let it worry you though, get checked if the cardio goes downhill like you planned but i think youll power thru. ______________________ that which does not kill me only serves to make me stronger. |

| Making Progress Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: In my house Posts: 175 Rep Power: ![]() | I take around 500mg Vit C every day along with Zinc, Vit D, evening Primrose, calcium, Vit B6 and B12, Omega 3,6 and 9 So I know if I get any symptoms of anything its not from lack of effort in the prevention department lol. |
