Default how many days a week should you lift weight?

i have read that 1heavy session 1 times a week is better for growth then 4

i normaly go 5 times a week for short high intensity workouts on a diffrent muscle group each time.

although i've been on nights for a wile now and am going to start a 3 day split cos its starting to get to much and i'm not resting enuff

i dont no where you read that but that wont work.

i do about the same as sam, 5 x a week short sharp sessions and rest on the weekends.

because it wont be enough for proper muscle growth.and to hit all the muscles you need to train them on different days. otherwise your session would take a long time.

where did you read it then?????

i read it from- mike mentzer high intensity training

Trust me buddy, the pro's go to the gym 4-5 days a week. All the muscles in the body (especially when you get to pro size) need alot of time spent to hit each individual muscle group and from differing angles/movements.
