Default close grips

question i would like some advice on close grips. my workout partner swears by them but insists that in order to do them correctly you need to grip with your hands together. this puts a hell of a strain on my wrists when i go heavy and i dont feel like dropping weights on my face. i have actually read a study (sorry it was so long ago i cant reference it) that said that you actually dont want to do that, the recommended grip was about 6 inches apart or both thumbs extended touching. this is supposed to hit the tri's best on this exercise. i prefer things like skull crushers, tri extensions and standing dumbell french curls. but these are good once in a while and i just want to know what form to use. thank you in advance for your help.

I always use and EZ bar and my hands are at the first bend. When the bar is fully lowered my thumbs touch the edges of my nipples.

that way i could do close grips and skull crushers right in line with each other, that saves me time on setting up the smith rack...good advice, i knew there was a reason this board was the best. thank you.

For a good superset, Try reaching failure with the close grips with the EZ bar then immediatly get on the ground and do push ups, but form a diamond shape with your thumbs and forefingers touching. In other words your hands will be virtually together.

See how many pushups you get on your 3/4th set, bet it wont be many.

When my training buddy reach failure with these pushups we end up squeezing out a few more by doing them girlie style on the knees. I think we are just masochistic mutha's but it pumps the tri's nicely

i did tons of diamonds in military boot camp! i hated those most of all, i think ill try that, sounds like fun. they used to repeatedly shout at us "pain is weakness leaving the body" since ive started bb, i believe that now more than ever.
