Why is a 5 day split used by the more experianced members, and if its a better way to train our muscles im keen on doing it. PS feel free for any member to coment on this, im keen to keep progressing like everyone and im worried ive been doing this routine to long.Im still gaining a pound a week but im not sure if my muscles are still growing as its hard to tell when you look at yourself everyday. All the best |

| Making Progress | From what I've learned from this forum, after a while training 3 times a week full body, can become over training as the muscles fibers change and body adapts to the stress. That's why people chnage to 4/5 day splits and train muscle groups less to give it a longer rest but to work it harder aswell. Not a very good explanation, I know! So I think :?: |

The 4day split involves organising your workouts into body parts so my old 4 day split looked like this (im doing 3day/full body atm) Mon: Chest/Tris Wed: Back/Bis Friday: Legs/Traps Sat: Abs/Shoulders Most people use HIT training with a routine like this, it envovles big weights with low volume. So for my spit i would use smaller muscle groups: chest/tris/bis/traps 6sets larger muscle groups: shoulders/legs/back 9sets more experienced lifters can go even lower than this each exercise should results in failure in the 2nd and 3rd sets each set should be in the region of 5-8 reps(if training for mass) lower if training for strength the key to this style of training is consistency and progerssive resistance. far too many people chop and change there routines too often. progressive resistance means increasing the weights for each exercise gradually as your muscles get stronger. Its a good program if done correctly and consistently. the reason its not recommended for beginners is because it requires experience to hit your muscles as hard as possible in a smaller number of sets. hope this helps | ||

| Banned Making Progress | how long have you been on it ? i used it for the first 3 years and made good consistent gains you can swapp exercises about if things get a bit stale but not to often every few months. over training is the product of two things frequency of training and amount of work done when training, thats why i kept the total sets down. i believe you are ready to move on from this routine when through experience you have enough of an understanding of the exercises and methods to know what works for you and what doesnt at that point you wont need to ask you will be capable of putting it together yourself, it will probably be a natural evolution but you dont go from begginer to advanced over night or even in a couple of years |

So its no training for 6 -8 weeks  And even then I need to take it easy! ______________________ Benj |
