Default bicep advice

been training the arms quite hard recently, giving them plenty of rest and protein before training again.

However recently when im training them they seem to be 'locking' after two exercises, ie, as im curling it just wont come up .

Im not training them to the point of failure, just standard warmup set low weight high repetition and then taking them to the weight im just comfortable with and pushing hard.

Is this a sign the muscle is worn out and needs more rest or is it just that the muscle has been worked well?

Just feel like i should be able to do more than two exercises, and a little worried this will prevent the muscle growing any larger.

Cheers for any advice

sorta yeah.
When your arm is say at the 180 degrees (i know it not quite that) mark and you lift, it locks when you hit the V shape or just plaine fails if you can imagine. Sorry its kinda hard to explain

I get exactly the same thing, only on the third set though. I think of it as possitive failiure, I'm not sure if it is or not?

not sure either, but it is very easy to overtrain the bicep. you may have done thae

My advice would be to have some time off, say 2 weeks. Then when you go back just do 3 sets of 1 - 2 exercises max. That should be enough to work the bi's sufficiently under normal circumstances anyway.

Take some time off anyway, as you need too if you have a problem. Get it checked out by a doc....

if your putting all your effort into lifting the weight and you cant cheat a little lean back and see if this gives you that bit more leverage to complete the rep if this works then it sounds like your just at failiure wots your bicep routine at the moment and how often are you training them bud.

its called positive failiure, when you reach a point in your set where you can't push out another full rep without help/cheating

i'm the same, as soon as my biceps really start to fatigue i begin to reach a sticking point halfway up, from there on i will either stop (if i still have more sets of curls to do), or if i'm near the end of my sets for that exercise i will finish with a few cheat curls (a slight rocking movement which helps me get through that sticking point), and after that my biceps are blasted!

i'd suggest using a slightly lighter weight and focusing more on form if you feel that your struggling to use a full range of motion on your curls

cheers godfarther, sounds like it could be that.
I do tend to focus more on form than how much i can do cheating, in fact its quite rare that i do cheat.

I was just more worried that it seems to be stopping me moving on to higher weights, i guess if the forms there and its still an effort to lift the weight, then the muscle will continue to grow.

Thanks for all the input guys
