Default rest period

New poll on rest periods as I thought it would be interesting to find out how long everyone has when in the 8-10 rep range(average).

Briliant Zx9rjas, great post mate.Im starting to think i should have longer rest periods, but im not sure if it will benefit me as like i previously said my first set is as much as i can lift theres no question about that, my other following sets deacrese in weight by a steady amount, if i was starting the following sets to quickly my weight lift would drop dramaticly wouldnt it?.Sometimes i have slightly longer rest periods depending how i feel i dont think there should be a time limit on it really, everybody needs to recuperate at there own speed. But for me 2 mins is too long between sets and i have had good gains so i must be working hard enougth and i definatly am, also differant exercises need differant rest periods it seems that way when im training anyway as some exercises require more energy and movements ie benchpress doesnt exert so much enery as squats beause your lying down with minimul movements so i recuperate at about 30 seconds with this, also i stretch inbetween sets after ive caught my breath to loosen muscle as much as i can to help the muscle recuperate quicker but all this takes 30-60 seconds.
INTERESTING :?:

I agree with jackamo, with too much rest it doesnt seem to pump muscles as much.

Wait til you hit 15/16 stone and beyond and you are benching 165KG and shoulder pressing 40-50KG dumbells for 6-8 reps. You'll need the rest to grow then

Yea fair point mate, but ill still be exerting myself the same if i was 15 stone or 13 stone.Looking at your stats eveybody has differant rest times anway, it would be easy fo me to say yea i have 2 mins rest like you Zx9rjas but i tell the truth so i can learn from my mistakes and ive made loads of mistakes, but ths s helpng me learn.I am considering doing less reps but heavier, maby 5-6 rather than 7-8 than i might work my muscles harder and need the rest. What doy you think? is 5-6 to little reps as i feel i havnt completed exercise if dont d at leat 7.
