Default Are we really the Unhappiest ppl on the Planet

I recently read somewhere (cant remember where) that bodybuilders are among the unhappiest ppl on the planet as we become completely obsessed with our image lose sight of how we actually look and become intensely overcritical of ourselves.
Also as our self esteem depends highly on our condition it is impossible for any1 not to hit a bad patch we are bound to be unhappy at some point was the gist. Reading Godfathers change of heart on his cycle made me decide that this poll would be pretty interesting. It does seem reading alot of posts that the majority arent happy otherwise we wouldnt have an incredible drive to improve.

I wouldn't say unhappy is the term, I have had moments where I think I need to improve that but I am like this with the rest of my life too. Its just in our nature. There is one think being unhappy with your appearance and another being unhappy with life.

I have always been overcritical of myself even before BB.

We are bound to be unhappy with our body at some point, it all depends whether you use that to the positive or negative.

Virtually everone is unhappy with some aspect of their life and I know some real miserable gits, usually people who dont train.

Your poll is rigged it ranges from i think im crap to i think i'm ok, what about all us ego maniacs that think were gods gift to everyone I think i look fantastic lol .

Seriously though you could apply this to anyone not just bodybuilders how many times has your lass been getting ready for a night out and stood infront of the mirror tearing herself to bits everybody does it we all think we look like shit sometimes.

me somtimes i look in the mirror and think I look massive and the next day I see a whole different guy, its just your brain playing tricks. Learn to judge yourself by how other people see you. If i go clubbing I usually get a string of lads comeing over asking about training you guys must get it to "how big are your arms", "what do you bench" etc. Point being if all these guys that have never seen you before and have no reason to spare your feelings tell you your a monster (in a good way) then chances are you are, even if you dont see it yourself.

I've lost count the amount of time the following happens to me.

Q. Bloody hell, youre massive. You go to the gym then?

A. Yeah, about 3-4 times a week

Q. (this one always follows) How much do you bench?

Or

Your back is huge, How big are your arms?

New years, I went out to the pub (no drinks for me though) the amount of comments I got from people. Sometimes I do get tired of it, when I hear it 20-30 times in a night.

I know what you mean garry about ones view of theirself. I do take in what others in my gym say as sometimes they will see things that I wont. I always have days where I think my arms are looking big today or they are looking small today.

Headfu^k

I'm pretty happy with my physique. Everytime I go out and meet new people, one of the first things they ask me is if I work out. I had one guy tell me I had a "turkey dinner" in my sleeve the other night. That was a new one. I think there's always room for improvement, but overall I like the way I look and if it never changed, I'd still be happy with it.
