Default HIT sucks!

no offense to all you HIT'ers out there but this shit did NOTHING for me! (apart from help me lose a bit of hard earned muscle and add 1% of BF to me in just 1 week!!!)

very dissapointed with it, i'm back to my 4-day split and have to keep the diet clean and do some extra cardio this week to make up for the fat gains from that stupid HIT bullshit!

its so ****ed up, back to my chest workout today and I way out of it, workout was shit, HIT has ****ed me right up, avoid!

peace

If you are talking about Mike Mentzer's High Intensity Training then I would agree...it sucks. I believe it depends on your genetics as some have had great success with it. Dorian, Mike Mentzer himself, Aaron Baker and Skip LaCour have all been quite pleased with the results. However, the vast majority of trainees get little out of it. When I tried it I did increase my maximum strength somewhat, but at the cost of 3 nagging injuries which ultimately held back my progress.

Hey, at least you gave it a go and now you know it's useless for you. In a couple of weeks you'll be back in the swing of things and making progress

okay maybe my first rant was a little OTT, but i was really mad at the time... expecting so much and got NOTHING.. no it didn't work for me... no i won't ever do it again but i've started making great gains again over the last week... therefore it kinda felt an active rest week (which i kinda needed, thats why it was a good time to try it because i'd be getting a lot more rest)

i'm starting to periodize my volume now, to try and get the best of both worlds (high-volume to really hit me hard, low-volume to prevent me overtraining), so far so good, put on 2lbs clean last week.. outta nowhere! I think the extra rest on the HIT week must have done me good so maybe it is useful for something, but if i'm gonna have a rest week i'll have a rest week, IMO HIT as a muscle building program is very flawed!

I had great results with HIT, but I agree that it may not be for everyone and it is certainly not a workout for all seasons.

How long was your HIT program ?

I think Mentzer had a genetic defect, certainly his old man did. That's the story I heard anyway.

Can't argue with what you are saying, I did it for 6 weeks and found it pretty good.

Probably would not bother with it again though
