Default LEG PRESS V SQUATS

Would appreciate opinions on advantages and disadvantages of leg press against sqwats.

advantage: less strain on the back.
disadvantages: targets more quad work, not entirely leaving out hams, glutes... but more so than squats. Squats use just about every muscle in the body. doesn't help balance like squats.

For my workouts I do both...

I dunno IMO if you have a healthy back u need to squat. leg press isn't a substitute but a compliment

Squats are the single most important exercise you could possibly do.

If you want to add leg presses, so be it. The only exercises I do for my lower body is squat, deadlift and calf raises.

I tend to do both in my routine. But squats are the best in my opinion. As gettinswole said they use every muscle.
In my opinion squats will increase your leg press weight far more than leg press increasing your squat weight.

Leg presses however do allow you to use more weight and target you quads. I tend to start with squats to hit all the leg muscles and then hit the leg press to finish of my quads.

Squats Tend to be the Meat & potatoes of the leg routine. I think it would be more benficial to include both squats and leg presses, because it indirectly works the glutes and the hams better than a stiff leg deadlift, And it also helps fatigue the leg better, an alternative to squats would be a hack squat which can be very beneficial as well .

basicaly if u want championship legs then u have to do both, squats are considered greater for mass but the leg press has many variations and puts less strain on the lower back,
basically it all depends on your goals
