What do you do for your back Benj?

I have a slightly smaller left bicep/tricep which I'm working on bringing up to par with the right, not so sure it's a case of the left being stubborn but more like under-used.

I'm pretty lucky as far as proportion, symmetry and minimal body fat goes. This will be my third week of touching weights in 14 years but already I'm gaining and growing, back is in a V again.

Have to say I enjoy the exercises most hate, you know like bent over rowing, pullups, dips, and of course the basics while keeping strict form. Stats at the moment are 5'8" tall, 43" chest, 28" waist.

I have long limbs but the only downside is my bone structure, small wrists Still, Larry Scott and Robby Robinson had small wrists...

I love every lift I do in the gym.... well.... apart from pull ups I have to force myself to do them!

Gotta love the big compund lifts, Squats, Deadlifts, Dips, Bench Press! Love em all!

For my back I used to do pull ups and then just use the machines ops: But I did some bent over rows today and I for once felt my back working, which is something So i'll be sticking to that next week!

I got small wrists like you, but then again I'm pretty small! Gone up from under 9st to a bit over 10st and i'm still gaining! Only been bulking and seriously training for the last month or so!

So hows it like to be back lifting again? Feels great doesn't it?

Skull Crushers? what kind of grip do you use for them, what angle are your hands and how wide is your grip? try changing some of the above, might find its just a dodgy angle for your elbows?

You need to make sure your holding the EZ bar so your thumbs are angled in towards your face...hope that makes sence.

Hello Benj,

The number one exercise for the back is bent over rowing... presuming you don't have any back problems. I remember a lot of guys in the gym not doing this exercise strictly and with no heart in it and with nowhere near the weight they should have been using.

To get the most out of it do a couple of warmup sets with very light weights or just the bar, keep your back as straight as you can, knees bent and pull th bar into your stomach, you can adopt a wide grip or narrower, whatever you're comfortable with initially. Then do a real heavy set for 5 to 8 reps maximum, do the set slowly, you should really feel it, it's important that the weight be as heavy as you can handle it in good form. Get intense with it and you won't need more than 1 or 2 sets.

That's back training done for one week mate.

I feel healthier and in a more happier state of mind since starting back, just a case of building up the amount I can eat really for me, kind of a struggle to go from eating once daily to 7 times, but I've managed to eat something of bulking & nutritional value at the designated feeding tiomes even if not as much as I would prefer, but it's coming along.

Good luck to you with your training.

Barry

That is one way of putting it I actually like working the triceps, just never bothered much in the past with them and when I did like in everything, I overtrained. Very bad mistake.

Hi Tissue, have you tried a close grip bench press, works the tri's very well, make sure you have a spotter though.

Tissue

I struggle with that exercise for tri's too, kills my left wrist.

I've got good tricep strength and I find over head cable tricep press hits them really well.

Give it a go
