Default trying to bulk, but only gaining strength/power

I'm trying to bulk up. My diet is good and i eat loads (6 meals a day), i use creatine and carbohydrate/protein supplements. I train 3 times a week 2 muscle groups each time i go, 5-7 excercises each session. In an excercise i complete 4 sets on about 6-12 reps. My weights are always increasing and i can lift alot more than other bigger guys down the gym but my size is only increasing slowly, i've been stuck on 12 stone for about 3 months! Anything anyone could suggest or any help would be appreciated, or am i just being impatient?

cheers.

Alright richtries,

I was in a similar situation just there actually. I also thought I was being impatient as I was stuck on just under 14st after putting on a stone and a half in about 2 months. What I decided to do was to try and eat more at certain meal times in order to increase the cals I was consuming every day (now I think its about 5000cals a day) Seems to have worked too, as I have shifted to just over the 14st mark and I think I am back on track for adding about 2lbs a week like before. Maybe you could give that a go? Maybe you could post your diet up and get feedback on that? I think being stuck at a certain weight is down to what you are eating, but the other guys will be able to help on that as well.
Good luck with it and stick in there. Its a pisser when you think its not going the way you want, but keep at it and I believe someone on the board will give you the info you need! Keep at it!!
All the best
Si

I was the same mate, when I first started I was doing 25kg on the Chest Press ops: I think we all must have used silly machines at one point, but within a month or two i was up to 50kg!

Instead of concentrating on your body weight why not measure yourself and monitor your body fat?

If you are gaining strength, you are invevitably gaining muscle which as you must be aware is heavier than fat. Therefore whilst you are remaining at 12 stone, your body fat must be decreasing which is an acheivment in itself.

Keep at it, eat as much as you can get away with without losing shape. Up the protein if you can.

In the past I have remained the same weight but changed shape dramatically. Ditch the scales for a couple of months, see how you go.

Sounds like good advice there Gail. I am trying to avoid the scales at the gym, and keep asking then to test me with the calipers. can you buy calipers from the shops and are they expensive?
How is your sore stomach these days? Did you get you Back and Bi's done?
I did mine yesterday since I was on my date on Wed ops:
Lovely lass, I drove her back home afterwards (as I didn't drink) she showed me round her flat (awaits jokes about sh*gging...) and is coming round to see my new flat next week All in, it went really well and she's a babe too. I'm hoping it will turn out to be something nice ops:

Hi si

Good to hear the big date went well, shame about the sh*gging part, but a good gal is worth waiting for

Stomachs ok, think it was dodgy protein power! Managed to get back/bi's done wednesday morning before work, so was a bit weaker than usual, no fuel inside me at that time.

You can get calipers, I bought some from Creatine Store.com for about 15. Think its a better way to monitor progress sometimes, we can all get obsessed with weight (men want to weigh more, ladies less).

I'm disheartened at present, have put calories up to around 1800 per day cus need to gain strenght, but for some reason my ass is growing. Have done cardio every day this week to try and combat it. DEPRESSING!

Have a good weekend

Hi Simon, got the messages, thanks, im real pleased for you that the date, went well, i hope everything goes to plan, just dont let anyone get in the way of your training. Gail im sorry to hear you havent been 100%,i know it wont mean much, but when i start to even consider disheartenment, i go back to basics, diet, regime, everything, i feel a change every now and again stimulates the routine. I have no doubt that you wont go into slump mode you have to many friends here to let that happen, chin up gail.

Dave.

Cheers Dave, thanks man. I hope so too, and am gonna be strict about not letting anything get in the way of my training!! Any girl who expects you to quit for her is not on. Any person worth their salt wouldn't ask another person to give up what they enjoy, so I'm wary! Experienced that sort of thing in the past, so ain't gonna stand for it in the future. Anyway, with us guys building amazing physiques, we can pick and choose our women

Gail, try not to be disheartened too much. Keep in there girl! As we've all seen from your snaps, you have a crackin bod and put loads of hard work in so keep it up! And as Dave says, you've got loads of pals on here for some support 8)
Keep up your hard work as you are doing great!!!!
I'm gonna order a pair of those calipers as my gym is crap and helping with that sort of thing. Thanks for the help with that!
