| Making Progress | I was going to put this post and another one in the beginners section but as the other one is here i might as well put this one in too. Sore muscles are the cross all beginners have to bear, especially if you/we end up overdoing any strenuous excercises tried for the first time. Personally i think this regards old and new bodybuilders/weightlifters,that practice either to get it right, or for some of us perfection, practice will eliminate soreness as our muscles adjust. In saying this however it is not strange for experienced bodybuilders to have sore muscles, if they/we have been attempting a new exercise or peraps had a paticularly thorough training session/workout. If the soreness carries on, then training is being overdone, or diet is the problem e.g. not eating proper balanced diet, in this scenario i would suggest to rest for a week, which gives time to "go back to the drawing board on our diet, and analyse as to where we were overdoing it in the gym. Again i would direct this information at beginners but i can take stock of my situation time and again i see no reason why other more experienced bodybuilders should not do the same. Not only to give self satisfaction but to set an example to the people who are new to the sport. Dave. |

Just don't want any new people to train their legs (for example) and then wake up sore and not train them again for a couple weeks thinking they overdid it. Practise makes perfect, everyone will learn in their own time and in their own way through experience (eg through trial and error of diet, training, supps etc.). But the above is a very good guideline So anybody worried, just listen to the man, he speaks the truth ![]() ______________________ Live the dream - nothing's impossible |

I really go for it in the gym and push my self as hard as possible. The ache from the muscles never usually lasts longer than a day and the amount the muscles ache after a workout has decreased as I have been training for 10 weeks. I hope I am not doing anything wrong here. Any opinions welcome |

| Making Progress | Sounds o.k. to me mate, thing is that while you train away, week in week out, your muscles get accustomed to the programme you are on, on the other hand if you decided to beef up your intensity, and throw in a few alterations to your programme, you simply shock your muscles into growth, because they wont have been worked in this way or that way its natural for this to happen, i would be concerned if after a really heavy workout or if i shocked mine, and got no response. Dont worry about it youre doing o.k. Dave. |

Anyway, more on topic After doing your heavy weights in a few minutes drop the weight by about 10% or so (8 kilos down to about 7/6) then do some training with High reps, low weight. This helps the muscles bulk nicely |
