Default Motivation

I was just thinking that sometimes its difficult to stay focused on your particular goals when training. My goal is to increases lean muscle mass and look like a tank ) Due to impatience, I sometime think that I'm not getting where I want to go - but I am. It just takes time and patience. I met a girl I know yesterday and she hadn't seen me for about 2 months. Without being prompted, she commented that my arms looked bigger! Its nice when someone you haven't seen in a while see's the difference in you. It made me realise that its ALL worthwhile and its very important to get stuck in and work hard. I heard a quote from some bodybuilding video and it was, 'There a million good reasons to keep working out. But not one good reason to quit'. Seems to me like thats very true. Next time you think you ain't getting anywhere, think of that saying and arrange to meet an old friend. You'll probably get a comment and realise that you are in fact growing!
Just wanted to share that
Si

Hiya mate, yes i agree, but i am having motivational problems, of a different sort, after some personal difficulties, i am now having to face medical problems, which leave me constantly drained and lethargic, and i still havent got round to kickstarting my training properly, it can be very demoralising and as you say demotivating, but i will continue to chip away for the meantime, this site and all the members is all that is keeping me going at the moment.

Focus and motivation are paramount in achiveing goals and can be a huge hurdle in themselves. The problem is that you never really see any change in your own physical apperance because you see youself every day, and the changes are so minute week by week you never notice them. Keeping a journal of your training with weights, reps, total weight moved, body measurments etc, is a must for any serious lifter and you can see your progress there on paper. Which is a great help not only for motivation, but you can also see what works and where you might be lagging.

Spot on bukem, that is the answer, you always think that you are not getting any bigger or progress isnt being made in one way or another, due to exactly that, you rely on others saying "oh youre putting on the beef" or are you doing weightlifting or some relevant comment, that i do know i hid away during january and march, this year when i started and when i went out to places where i was recognised, people were doing a double take if you like and that is when you start to feed off other peoples recognition. It also restores or boosts your self confidence tremendously.

Thats it Mule, Although it's good to be healthy, fit and we like to look after our bodies. It's alot of hard work and dedication. I think with all bbers there is a certain amount of vanity there and like you said it's very rewarding when other people notice and compliment. Thats why we all love the summer. Well I do anyway
