i just do em standing completely straight.works for me

i dont see leaning the knech forward a little bit would hurt, might hit them a little differently.

but as long as your getting stronger and still growing keep doing them.

To really target your traps do Shrugs with the bar behind you, this gives your muscles a much better stretch and builds them up more than doing Shrugs with the bar at the front.

Shrugs are great but dont forget deadlifts! Rowing movements and deadlifting should be enough to work the traps, depending on your genetics. I naturally have good traps and dont need to do much direct work on them, but if you don't have any, then go for shrugs.

I use dumbells and go straight up and down. No rolling of the shoulders. Traps are designed to move are shoulders up and down not back and forwards. And you would be supprised at how little weight you have to lift to make your traps grow. I see guys in the gym put tremendous weight on a bar to exercise what is a relatively small muscle. All this does for me is add to the risk of injury.

I agree. Also waht TJ said about shrugging behind. I remember seeing an old Lee Haney video where he did sets of those with just 40 kgs either side of an olympic bar (100 kgs total) His traps were impressive.
