SO my advice to anyone just about to start, or considering getting into weights, is go for it, the satisfaction is well worth it. I am, however still a novice and have a couple of questions: Please can you give me advice on the perfect form/ technique of a shoulder press (or the most effective shoulder exercise you know of) because when i do it i dont really feel the strain (or burning sensation) in my shoulders, i feel it more in my arms. which makes me feel like i may be a little wrong in my technique, or maybe using to light or heavy weights, not really sure. Any advice would be great. Also, should i be aching after a workout? Because i don't really. Which makes me feel like i should be pushing myself harder?? i always exercise untill i cant perfom another rep. No pain no gain as they say, is that correct? thanks for your time |

As for shoulder press i would do either militray press i think its called, i use a smith machine, sit with the bar coming litterally down just behind your head and lift from your arms at just less than 90 degrees right up till alomst locked. Go heavy as poss and it should be good, else you can do a seated dumbell press with the same movement. just concentrate moving the weight up and down with as little back and forth motion as poss. Hope that helps ______________________ You can never have enough protein! |

| Under Construction | hey tommo, you could try side raises i find that when done really slowly with arms straight by your side, a dumbell in each hand slowly raising your arms up to 90 degrees so you arms and body make a t shape. you dont have to go heavy on this concentrate on getting the form nice and slow dont rush to get your arms up and dont rush to bring them back again. i also find that when i reach failiure on the last set, i pick up a lighter weight and push out a few more just to really feel the burn. (you can keep dropping weight till those puppies are ****ed) hope that this helps! ______________________ Lifes too short to be small, eat cow and rice and be massive! |
