Default Improve cardio fitness

Did any watch that programme last night on the 4 minute mile?

It raised some interesting trraining techniques and my old man has been running for years and also keen interest in sport science. The programme raised the issue of the benefits of interval training which my Dad explained;

You train say 5 intervals; Each one 5 minutes.

You jog to warm up
5 minute run at a fast pace say 10-12km/h
5 minute jog 4-6km/h
5 minute run at fast pace again
5 minute jog etc.....

Till you have done five of each, this is really supposed to improve your cardiovascular health and endurance but not however a great solution for weightloss, stick with the long drawn out slow work for fat burning.

looks a bit like HIIT to me only a little different in the fact you are using longer split times and less intensity than traditional HIIT
