| Making Progress | Hi Merc, I use the wrestlers bridge to strengthen my neck, the way to perform this exercise is as follows. LIE DOWN ON THE FLOOR WITH YOUR HEAD ON A CUSHION FOR COMFORT, MAKE SURE YOUR KNEES ARE BENT AND BACK ON THE FLOOR. USING YOUR NECK MUSCLES,ARCH UP YOUR BODY TO A BRIDGE/ARCH POSITION, SUPPORTED BY THE CROWN OF YOUR HEAD AND USE YOUR LEGS TO SWIVEL YOUR BODY BACKWARDS AND FORWARDS. THIS PLACES STRESS ON YOUR NECK MUSCLES. YOU SHOULDN'T PERFORM THIS EXERCISE TO FAILURE. I WOULD SAY START OFF WITH 8 REPS AND GRADUALLY WORK UP TO 20 REPS. I hope this helps in a small way. best wishes dave. |

I have a background in boxing and am wondering if you are in a similar sport. You might find something about this on a boxing website !.A neck sling is only really used for strength and not size, Dave is dead right and it is important to use high reps, we used to go right up into the 50's. Don't go to mad though you only realize how much you move your head in a day when you have a sore neck Good luck. |
