How many shakes are you having per day? What is the rest of your diet like? These factors must be looked at properly because if they aren't right you wont grow, plain and simple. The biggest problem with weight gain shakes though ans publics expectations being too high is down to the way they are advertised and sold to the public. What I mean is if you take 100gr of powder ans if that powder is made up from carbs and protein then the very most calories it can contain is 400 (each gram of carbohydrate and protein contains 4 calories). So the only way a company can make 100gr of mass gainer more than 400cals is to load it with fat, which is not good! What I'm sayng is it doesn't matter if its Reflex, Muscletech, ON, PVL, Nutrisport or Extreme Nutrition 100gr of one product contains pretty much the same as the others. Now is where the marketing comes in, Muscletech Mass Tech has a recommended serving size of 218gr giving 830 calories, ON Serious Mass has a recommended serving size of 334gr civing 1250 calories, Extreme Nutrition Performance Mass is a recommended serving size of 100gr with 391 calories. The point I'm making is some companies are letting you believe their product has somehow a magical number of growth promoting calories but its a scam, that big bag of ON Serious Mass is 5.5kg and it only has 16 servings! That works out at £2.80 per serving, our Extreme Mass has 30 servings working out at £1.30 a serving. Ok, you say I don't mind the extra £1.50 to gain the extra calories in the ON Serious Mass rather than the Extreme Performance Mass, but this is where the scam magnifies. When you see Mass Gainers advertised they tell you about calories and all the good stuff in the product, but what about protein content? Extreme Performance Mass 35g protein/100g ON Serious Mass 15g protein/100g Muscletech Mass Tech 20g protein/100g PVL Monster Maxx 21.6g protein/100g Inner Armour Gainer 3000 33.5g protein/100g PVL Gourmet Gainer 14.8g protein/100g Its protein that builds your muscles and carbs that make you fat (rather sweeping but this could take forever), so why are some companies charging you the same as others but giving you a load of sugars, a sprinkling of protein and loads of fancy marketing and still getting away with it? Just as with every aspect of bodybuilding you must educate yourselves on what are good ingredients and which are crap, you must look at protein content and sources of protein, look at carb sources and know if they are simple or complex and look at the magazines! If a company is running 4-8 pages in a mag its not because they are the biggest or best, its because THEY MAKE THE BIGGEST PROFIT! Muscletech sponsor loads of top bodybuilders and advertise everywhere, where does the money come from? From the vastly inflated prices for mediocre products. I'd happily put our Extreme range up against any other company in the world for direct comparison because I know what goes into our stuff, I don't think any of the huge players would take me up on that as they have too much to lose and they know their products aren't as good. Just be carefull guys, lots of people want you pound and couldn't give a sh1t if you gain or not. www.extremenutrition.co.uk 20% off for MChat Members ______________________ www.extremenutrition.co.uk - 25% OFF FOR ALL MC MEMBERS, discount code MCD25. www.betterbodies.uk.com Seriously cheap sports nutrition! I dont suppose you would mind when you get a chance to put in what you think would be suitable to have? The 8.00am and 1.00pm breaks are 10 minutes long and the 10.00 lunch is half an hour. Young gun, thanks mate. |

The amino acid profile contained in the eggs makes up for the poor profile of the tuna and makes it a well rounded bodybuilding meal. A drink of whey with your bagel at 8 would be ok too. A lot of guys on here (and many other forums) bang on about real food being the best thing for you, I don't agree. Many supplements are designed to suit the specific needs of the human body, solid foods are there because they are lumps of dead animal, or because they grow out of the ground. Many solid foods have allergenic properties or have been bred/farmed in ways that can be detrimental to health (battery chickens are a good example). You can build a top physique while relying heavily on supplements, I know many who have done this off season and pre-contest. Personally I find it hard to eat all my food as solids so supplements are the only avenue left for me. When I was competing I was in a sales job which had me working 6 days and until 7pm 3 nights a week so as a single guy with a limited cooking ability I had to reply on supps, no matter how dedicated you are you can only eat tuna, beans and egg or turkey and veg so many times a day for 16 weeks before you wanna puke at the thought of it. Anyway, thats my thoughts on it, feel free to disagree where you want to guys. www.extremenutrition.co.uk ______________________ www.extremenutrition.co.uk - 25% OFF FOR ALL MC MEMBERS, discount code MCD25. www.betterbodies.uk.com Seriously cheap sports nutrition! People keep banging on about solid food is best but you just can't eat the amount required sometimes. I for one can't stand eggs in the morning and don't have time to scramble them so have a shake instead. No problems with eating them later in the day though as I take boiled eggs or scramble them later in the day at work. Also trying to consume large calories can be quite hard for some and a shake is much easier to down than chicken and rice for a second time in one day,...for me anyway. I sometimes make my own meal replacement in a blender if I'm struggling with my food. Blend in water, oats, EFA, and a protein blend such as reflex quottro which also has casein and whey. I find this very handy as you can customise it to your needs and micronutrients required for that meal. Chell |
