What exactly are salts meant to do? I brought some from the chemists a couple of years ago after seeing someone use them in a video. Boy, they blew my head off and left my eyes streaming. But, I can't say they did anything for my lifts

I personally use smelling salts for my max effort days in the gym and also when I compete at a powerlifting meet. Alot of guys use them as a little extra to attain the mental focus required to get a heavy lift. Your right in saying that they blow your head off, thats the general idea. They can take a bit of getting use to but I find they give me a great boost and really help my focus. Boots sell them, unfortunately I dont have them to hand and cant recall the brand name but Im sure they'll know what your talking about
