Nick please can you reconsider your view as it seems very logical to me, as long as you take in extra calories to compensate then your OK. It makes sence cardio burns calories so if you dont want to slim down then just take extra calories as to compensate for the cardio.

Cardio = loss of calories ... soluction = replace lost calories.

the theory is great.. and on paper i totally agree dino... however in real life... how many calories are actually being worked off in each cardio session? its really not easy to know this... so how can you adjust calories accordingly? will someone be giving their body enough rest and recuperation time to grow if they are doing lots of cardio?

from a nutritional standpoint your spot on... but there are other factors which may mean someone is doing too much cardio to grow... overtraining for one.... cardio adds to the stress on the body...

also, more importantly, lets consider the amount of cortisol (muscle wasting hormone) that is produced during cardio... If you do less cardio, then less cortisol will be produced, its quite simple...

playing rugby cardio is needed, i go for short sprints and intense sessioss on the rower and make sure you keep the calories up, you can't play rugby without a decent level of fittness,
i stopped doing extra cardio last year and the game started to pass me by, what position do you play?
