I have tried one of these, it was about 10 years ago and I paid 80p back then. If I remember rightly, the ingredients, mainly the quality of protein, were nothing special. It's pretty crappy stuff if you ask me. Not much better than drinking slim-fast.I wouldn't drink one before a workout myself (actually wouldn't drink one at all with that fat content!). Looks a bit heavy on the stomach. Post workout would be better if you must drink it.
You can get a better quality product by buying something like http://www.extremenutrition.co.uk/ca...79d01f0caf725d

Fair enough. But if money is an issue, do what many people on a budget do and buy the ingredients individually form bulk powders.
The more you buy the more you save in the long term. You can also buy empty containers from Myprotein.
This way you get good quality ingredients and, if used properly, good clean gains.

If your getting them cheap then perhaps its actually best you buy them I mean dont pass up the opportunity right.

Just that they do contain quite a bit of fat unless your getting the low fat ones which are a wee bit more expensive.

I actually like the taste of them quite a bit myself cant beat those flavours. I dont recommend it but I recommend it.

Hi Sean,

Do you mind if i ask how old you are?

I used to take these when was younger (younger he says i'm only 25 now) and when i first started training and when i was on a budget but i used to add them to some eggwhites, sometimes some fruit like banana's, sometimes some yoghurt and mix them up in the blender and they were packed with all the muscle building nutrients the body requires to grow.

So if this is the case go for it but add some of the other ingreideints i mentioned.

Hi I must say using these out of lazyness really because the garage is next door and a pound aint to bad. I made some good gains really but they do come at a price I got quite fat off using them 1 or 2 a day if you want this type of thing and have a super fast metabolism get light evaporated milk its the same thing without the sugar and fat. I also found a glass of milk vanilla essence 1 egg and a scoop of skimmed milk powder to be much cheaper and better alround this is what arnies typical meal replacement would look like exept a scoop of ice cream instead of vanilla essence good luck use this one for a while stick it in a thermos flask and drink it on the way to college i do.
