Default ISOLATE

I understand the whole point of whey isolate is to hit the system quicker due to the lower amount of carbs/fats present....

My question is when taking it after training in dextrose powder for example will this slow it down..in other words is it best to take isolate on its own in water then followed 20min later by dextrose(carb source)

i would say not ..i have seen plenty of studies mostly in MD concerning the comparisens between drinking a protein or carb only shake compared to drinking a mix of carbs and protein.
every time the mixed drink came up trumps by a long way.
if you are intrested i will try and dig out the refrences and post them up.

I know Extreme has a study going on at edinburgh uni on his Build and Recover product testing it against various other formulas over a 3 month (I think) period. I know he said the test groups performance, body fat, recovery time, blood pressure, etc were all being monitored, so it should be interesting to see what happens.

I concur. For reasons that I cannot think of, the presence of aminos seems to stimulate an increased insulin response (and consequently cortisol inhibition).

Isolate hits the system quicker because it is so refined.

A comparison would be eating wheat as it comes out the field in comparison to eating bread, because bread is heavily processed wheat it is digested very quickly because all the processing your body would have to do to untreated wheat has been already done in the bread making process.

It has been widely documented how slowly the body absorbs milk protein, but when you process it into concentrate it speeds up, take it to a higher level of processing - isolate, and it speeds even more.
